Celebrity Marriages & Divorces in 2012

We are obsessed with celebrity news and no celebrity news is more coveted than the celebrity marriage except of course, the celebrity in divorce. Every year we are shocked by the celebrity couples that hook up and the couples that break up. 2011 was a year filled with celebrity marriages and break ups and no one raced the covers of tabloids more than Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries who made headlines with their "fairytale wedding" and Kim's filing for divorce 72 days later. 2012 is sure to be filled with just as many news-making celebrity marriages and celebrity divorces.

Apparently annual vow renewals were not enough to keep Heidi Klum and Seal together. After seven years of marriage and four children (Leni, 7, from Heid's prior relationship who Seal adopted, and Henry, 6, Johan, 5 and Lou, 2), Heidi and Seal have separated. Reports are that Seal's inability to control his temper was the source of their split. The former couple maintains that their children are their first priority and that they will do everything to keep the split as amicable as possible.

On January 13, 2012, Mena Suvari filed for divorce from her husband of 18 months, Simone Sestito. Suvari and Sestito married in June, 2010 after 3 years of dating with a fairy-tale wedding in Itally. In the divorce papers filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court, the American Beauty star listed November 1, 2011 as the separation date and cited the ever-popular "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for divorce. Suvari also asked that Sestito be blocked from requesting spousal support. This will be the second divorce for Suvari who in 2005 ended her 5 year marriage to cinematographer Robert Brinkmann.

On December 30, 2011, Russell Brand filed for divorce from Katy Perry after 14 months of marriage signifying that these two celebrities are on the way to a 2012 divorce. Rumors circulated about problems in their relationship for months with Russell going so far as to publicly state on Ellen that he was happily married. However, after a blowout fight and spending the holidays apart (Russell in the U.K. and Katy in Hawaii) on December 30th, Russell filed for divorce on December 30, 2011 in Los Angeles. It has been reported that Russell filed for divorce because Katy, whose parents are devoted Evangelists, did not want to be cited with "ending the marriage."
